Alma Trotter

Alma Trotter is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in data journalism and community engagement. Currently serving as a Board Member and Co-organizer at Civic Tech DC since September 2023, Alma focuses on leveraging technology for local civic causes. As the Director of Data Journalism at CareSet since January 2014, Alma leads initiatives involving the liberation of Medicare/Medicaid data and collaboration with researchers and journalists, while advocating for high-quality open data. Previous roles at CareSet include Data Policy Manager and Data Journalist, with a foundation in data journalism, management, and research since joining in 2014. Prior to this, Alma worked as Operations Manager at Caroline Collective, fostering a community of entrepreneurs and non-profits in Houston. Alma holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin, graduated in 2011.
