Senior Scientist II at Cargo

James Byers has a diverse work experience in the field of biosciences. James currently holds the position of Senior Scientist II at CARGO Therapeutics since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at PACT Pharma as a Scientist II, focusing on immuno-oncology and gene editing, from 2020 to 2022.

From 2017 to 2020, James worked at 3T Biosciences as a Senior Scientist. Their earlier research experience includes being a PhD Candidate at Stanford University School of Medicine from 2012 to 2017. During their time at Stanford, James conducted research on proteinaceous epigenetic elements.

Before their doctoral studies, James was a Cox Research Scholar at Indiana University Bloomington from 2008 to 2012. James also served as an Amgen Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley in 2011. In 2009, James pursued an internship at the Herman B. Wells Institute for Pediatric Research, located at Indiana University School of Medicine.

James Byers completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience at Indiana University Bloomington from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Developmental Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine from 2012 to 2017.
