Mary Rodley

Vice President, CMC Strategy & Operations at Cargo

Mary Rodley has an extensive and diverse work experience spanning over several years. Mary is currently serving as the Executive Director of CMC Operations & Strategy at CARGO Therapeutics since June 2023. Before this, from 2022 to 2023, they worked as an Independent Consultant at Medius Consulting, LLC.

In 2022, Mary co-founded a Nature-Based Carbon Removal Startup, where they held the role of Co-founder and CTO till May 2023.

Prior to that, they worked at Bristol Myers Squibb from 2020 to 2022. During their tenure, they served as the Senior Director of CMC Project Leadership & Regulatory Writing, where they provided strategic guidance, managed project leaders, and led the group during organizational changes and franchise strategy shifts. Mary also held the position of Director of Early CMC Portfolio & Regulatory Writing, where they oversaw portfolio management and established a central regulatory writing team within Technical Development.

From 2015 to 2020, Mary worked at Juno Therapeutics, Inc. where they held multiple roles. As an Associate Director, CMC Team Leader, they led a cross-functional team, delivering development plans and gaining regulatory approval for a product. Mary also served as a Senior Manager in the CMC Strategy Lead role and earlier as a Senior Engineer.

Mary began their career at Genentech in 2009 as an Associate Engineer, progressing to Engineer I and then Engineer II roles. Their responsibilities included process development, optimization, and product characterization.

Before their industry roles, Mary worked as a Researcher at Johns Hopkins University and as a Research Assistant at University Hospital Basel.

Mary Rodley obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University between 2005 and 2009. In 2022, they pursued a certificate in Climate Change: Learning for Action from Terra.do.
