Luca Bonfiglio

Maritime Data Scientist at CargoMetrics Technologies

Luca Bonfiglio has over nine years of professional experience in the maritime industry. Luca began their career in 2010 as a Ship Superintendent for Corsica Ferries, where they were responsible for energy management for fast ferries and high speed crafts operating in the Mediterranean sea. Luca also developed new strategies for engine operation, trim optimization, and routes management. In 2014, they joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, where they were responsible for the development of models for the optimization of the hull and appendages of an ultra-fast hybrid hydrofoil supported SWATH vessel designed for 120 Knots operations. In 2019, they joined CargoMetrics Technologies LLC as a Maritime Data Scientist.

Luca Bonfiglio received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Naval Architecture from the Università degli Studi di Genova in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the same university in 2009. Luca also obtained their Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Università degli Studi di Genova in 2007.
