Oliver Schimmel

Oliver Schimmel is a seasoned security professional with extensive experience in governance, privacy, and embedded security. Currently serving as a Security Engineer for Governance and Privacy at CARIAD since July 2022, Oliver previously held the position of Architekt (Security, Privacy) at AUDI AG from June 2020 to October 2022. Prior experience includes working as an Embedded Security Expert at AKKA DSO GmbH from October 2016 to May 2020, focusing on security analysis and design for control units, vehicle architecture, and infrastructure. From October 2010 to September 2016, Oliver was a researcher at Fraunhofer AISEC, conducting security and attack analyses of embedded systems and developing security concepts to protect against piracy and manipulation, along with conceptualizing secure remote update processes for various industries. Oliver holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from Technische Universität Darmstadt, earned between 2003 and 2010.
