Medical Director Of Clinical Product Analysis at Carilion Clinic

Curtis Bower has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of surgery. Curtis started their career as a Surgeon at Danville Surgical Center in 2006 and later served as an Assistant Professor at East Carolina University from 2007 to 2012. In 2012, they joined the University of Kentucky HealthCare as an Instructor. Curtis then moved on to Carilion Clinic in 2013, where they held multiple roles including Assistant Professor of Surgery, Director of Carilion Clinic Vein Center, Vice Chief of Surgery, and General Surgery Section Chief. In 2015, they became the Medical Director of Clinical Product Analysis at Carilion Clinic. Currently, Curtis is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, a position they have held since December 2016. Throughout their career, Curtis has been involved in various surgical procedures, complex minimally invasive surgeries, complex hernia repairs, and venous disease treatment. Curtis is also experienced in training surgical residents and medical students.

Curtis Bower obtained an MD degree in Medicine from Thomas Jefferson University from 1996 to 2000. Curtis then pursued a General Surgery Residency Program at East Carolina University from 2000 to 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a BS degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1994 to 1995. Curtis also studied Biology at Carnegie Mellon University from 1992 to 1994 and briefly attended Brown University in 1991.
