Philip Prescott

Philip Prescott, CLSS-HC, CHFM, CHSP has extensive experience in environment of care, safety management, risk management, and life safety code compliance in the healthcare industry. From 2019 to present, they have served as the Senior Director of Environment of Care and Safety at Carilion Clinic, where they are responsible for coordinating, developing, implementing, and monitoring environment of care, safety management, and risk management operations. Prior to that, they were the Director of Safety and Environment of Care at Indiana University Health from 2013 to 2018, where they were responsible for risk management, emergency preparedness, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Philip also held the position of Director at IU Health White Memorial from 2005 to 2013. In 2022, they joined The Joint Commission as a Life Safety Code Surveyor, conducting evaluations and providing consultation on compliance with NFPA101 Life Safety Code standards. Additionally, they have contributed to the healthcare industry as the President of the Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers from 2020 to 2022, promoting education and best practices in healthcare facilities.

Philip Prescott, CLSS-HC, CHFM, CHSP, completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology Sociology at Hanover College from 1992 to 1996. Philip then pursued their Master of Business Administration at Anderson University from 1999 to 2001. In addition to their educational background, Philip obtained various certifications such as Certified Healthcare Safety Professional from the International Board for Certification of Safety Managers in 2018, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager from the American Hospital Association in 2018, Certified Life Safety Specialist - Health Care from NFPA in May 2018, and Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator from Georgia Regents University in 2015.
