Maarten Beelen

Maarten Beelen is a seasoned professional in the field of medical technology, currently serving as the Team Lead at the ZEISS Surgical Robotics Innovation Hub since March 2022. As a co-founder and CTO of PRECEYES B.V. since October 2011, Maarten has played a pivotal role in developing innovative robotic solutions that assist eye surgeons in intricate surgical procedures, enhancing both existing treatments and paving the way for new high-precision options in vitreoretinal surgery. Maarten's academic background includes a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Control Systems Technology, earned with cum laude honors from Eindhoven University of Technology, where also a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering was obtained. During the academic career, Maarten contributed to advancements in the field of robotics with a published journal paper on teleoperated surgery and was involved in the control engineering of a bioreactor designed for tissue engineering applications.
