Pursuant to a merger with the firm in which he was a principal since 1985, Alan has been a Partner at Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP since 2015. He primarily works with closely held and family businesses of all types and the individuals and families who own those businesses.

Alan’s practice areas cover a broad range of business and personal matters including – tax-exempt nonprofits; real estate; estate planning and estate & trust administration; planning, structuring and financing of new and existing businesses; negotiating and structuring multi-million dollar and smaller business acquisitions and divestitures; drafting and negotiating many types of contracts, including agreements with vendors and customers; designing and implementing consulting, employment, buy-sell, non-compete and similar agreements; developing and negotiating commercial leases and property purchases and sales; and estate, tax, and succession planning for multi-generational family and other closely-held businesses.

He represents a broad range of types of businesses, including manufacturing, retailing, technology and other services, vehicle dealerships, medical and dental practices, distributor’s and manufacturer’s representatives and many others.
