Melissa P. is an experienced educator and Subject Matter Expert currently with Western Governors University since February 2023, focusing on enhancing educational content through andragogical principles and multimedia scripting. Previously, Melissa served as an Assistant Professor of Special Education at New Mexico Highlands University, where an accelerated online teacher licensure program was launched, and contributed to the development of high-quality curricula across various formats. At Ashford University and Brandman University, efforts included creating outcome-based programs and mentoring faculty on culturally sensitive strategies, driving community engagement initiatives. Melissa holds a Ph.D. in Special Education and Teaching from Walden University and a Master's degree in Special Education and Educational Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Carlsbad Municipal Schools is seeking dedicated educators to challenge and inspire students to develop the skills and aptitudes necessary to make a living, succeed in a post-secondary education, and positively impact their world. Carlsbad Schools does offer hiring incentives up to $20,000 based on experience. Relocation expenses are also offered based on mileage. At Carlsbad Schools we offer mentor programs for incoming teachers to help support them during their first year, complete dossier for leveling up as well as OPAL for alternative licensure. Teacher housing is available on a first come, first serve basis. We will be implementing Opportunity Culture during the 23-24 school year to better provide our teachers with mentoring and offer students a quality education.
