Sumanta Garai, PhD has a wealth of experience in the scientific field. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Scientist and Scientist II at Carmot Therapeutics, Inc. From 2015 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Research Scientist and Post Doctoral Research Associate at Northeastern University, where they characterized CB1 allosteric binding sites and identified novel small molecule Positive Allosteric Modulators (PAMs). From 2013 to 2014, they were a DSK Post Doctoral fellow at the University of Hyderabad where they conducted total synthesis of bioactive drimane-epoxyquinol hybrid natural products. From 2007 to 2006, they were a Research Fellow at the National Chemical Laboratory where they conducted synthetic studies towards Heritol, (-)-Venlafaxine, 7-Deoxypancratistatin and developed important synthetic methodologies. In 2006, they were a Project Student at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science.
Sumanta Garai, PhD obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Chemistry from the National Chemical Laboratory in 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University in 2007.
