Michael Hanson

Michael Hanson serves as the Superintendent Advisor to LEAs at the Sacramento County Office of Education since June 2022. In addition, Michael is a Founding Partner at The JMH Team, Inc., which offers executive coaching and strategic advising to education systems, focusing on early learning and improvements in areas such as resource allocation and governance. Michael has been a Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching since October 2018 and previously held the role of Superintendent at Fresno Unified School District from July 2005 to February 2017. Prior experiences include serving as Associate Superintendent for Educational Services at Elk Grove Unified School District and Principal at Laguna Creek High School. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA, a Master of Education in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University.
