Sean Jones

Sean Jones serves as the Endowed Chair of Jazz Studies at The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University since January 2018 and has held the position of Artistic Director for NYO Jazz at Carnegie Hall since July 2017. Additionally, Sean Jones is the Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra and has been a Professor of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University since September 2005. Sean held the role of President at the Jazz Education Network from July 2020 to June 2022 and served on the Board of Chamber Music America from January 2015 to July 2020. As a performing artist, Sean was a trumpeter with the SFJAZZ Collective and contributed as an Artist in Residence with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust until June 2018. Sean's academic background includes a Master's degree in Music Performance from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance from Youngstown State University.
