Bill van der Sloot is a seasoned violin educator with a rich teaching history that spans several esteemed institutions. Currently serving as a Professor of Violin at Carnegie Mellon University since February 2017 and at Oberlin College since September 2018, Bill also held prominent roles at Mount Royal University as a Distinguished Instructor and Artistic Director of the Advanced Performance Program until April 2021. Additionally, Bill managed The Academy for Gifted Youth during this tenure. Bill's foundational teaching experience began at Medicine Hat College, where a tenured position as Department Chair in the violin department was held from August 1980 to July 1998. Bill's educational background includes studies at the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Calgary.
