Florian Metze is an Associate Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, with a focus on language technologies and speech recognition. Since 2009, Florian has led the GALE ASR team, maintained the JRTk toolkit, and organized significant conferences in the field. In addition to teaching responsibilities, including supervising PhD students, Florian serves as a Research Scientist Manager at Meta, specializing in multi-modal video understanding. Prior experience includes co-founding Abridge AI, holding a Senior Research Scientist position at Technische Universität Berlin while consulting for Deutsche Telekom AG, and coordinating research projects at Universität Karlsruhe. Florian holds a Dr.-Ing. in Computer Science from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a Diplom in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, complemented by various international academic experiences.
