Director Of Exhibitions & Design at Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Sarah Crawford has an extensive work experience in the field of exhibitions and design. Sarah is currently the Director of Exhibitions & Design at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, a position they started in November 2020. Before that, they worked at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County where they held the role of Senior Manager, Exhibition Design and Development from July 2019 to October 2020, and previously served as an Exhibit Developer from August 2017 to October 2020. Sarah also worked as an Exhibit Developer at The San Diego Museum of Man from December 2015 to July 2017, and at The Field Museum from September 2012 to December 2015, where they held the roles of Exhibit Developer and Assistant Exhibit Developer. Sarah has also been involved in the museum profession as a planning committee member of the Emerging Museum Professionals group from 2013 to 2014. Prior to their work in the museum field, Sarah worked as an Exhibition Designer at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum from August 2011 to September 2012. Sarah also has experience in the advertising industry, having worked as an Art Director at Elisco Advertising from March 2007 to August 2009. Sarah began their career as a Design Intern at Jack Horner Communications in January 2004. Sarah also served as secretary at AIGA from 2004 to 2008 and worked as a Junior Art Director at Blattner Brunner from 2004 to 2007.

Sarah Crawford attended Flint Central High School for their high school education. After high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Graphic Design at The Art Institutes from 2001 to 2004. Sarah then furthered their education at the University of the Arts, where they obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design from 2009 to 2011.
