Archie Watts-Farmer is an experienced engineer and entrepreneur. In 2005, they began their career at Atkins, where they worked as a CENG MIMechE Senior Engineer, leading project teams and overseeing a team of 10 engineers. During their time at Atkins, they played a significant role in the certification of the First Flight of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine.
In 2015, Archie worked as a Postgraduate Student at COPPE / UFRJ, where they gained valuable experience in their field. Archie then joined the Litus Foundation in 2017 as a Programme Manager for the Litus Uncooled Engine Development Programme. Here, they successfully delivered two Innovate UK R&D grant-funded projects and led design and analysis in various aspects of engine performance.
Archie's most recent work experience is with Carnot Ltd, a technology startup that they co-founded in 2019 as the CEO/Co-Founder. Alongside their fellow entrepreneurs, they are leading the development of advanced ceramic engines with improved efficiency and reduced fuel use and CO2 emissions. Their disruptive technology aims to transform the industry and accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions in sectors that are difficult to electrify.
Additionally, in 2016, Archie worked as a Team Fiji Attaché for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Archie played a crucial role in organizing hosting events, providing translation and local knowledge, and conducting press interviews for Team Fiji.
Throughout their career, Archie has showcased strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for advancing technology in the engineering industry.
Archie Watts-Farmer completed their education at three different institutions. Archie attended Shrewsbury School from 1994 to 1999, but it is not mentioned if they obtained a degree or field of study during this time. Then, from 2001 to 2005, they studied at the University of Bristol, earning an MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. In 2015-2016, Archie pursued a postgraduate degree in Offshore Systems Engineering at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, specializing in Oil and Gas Engineering. Additionally, they obtained the certification of CENG from IMECHE in September 2012.
