Brent Dixon has extensive experience in the laboratory and research field. In 2019, they began their role as Executive Laboratory Director and Laboratory Director at the Carolina BioOncology Institute, where they are responsible for directing the overall operation and administration of clinical (CLIA/COLA) and Human Applications Laboratory (GLP/GMP). From 2016-2019, they were the Director of the Public Health Laboratory and Assistant Bureau of Laboratories Director at the S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control, where they provided professional consultation and leadership in laboratory matters on behalf of the Agency. From 2010-2011, they were the Chief Scientist and Technical Director at PCLS, where they were responsible for technical direction of clinical chemistry, toxicology, and pharmacogenetics. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Central Piedmont Community College. From 2009-2005, they held the role of Post Doctorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and PhD Student at North Carolina State University, respectively. In 2005, they also worked as an Engineering Intern at Watson & Barron, Ltd. In 2004, they worked as an Engineering Intern at DSM Pharmaceuticals for three summer rotations.
Brent Dixon has a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from North Carolina State University, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Ag-Business Management from North Carolina State University, and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Clinical Management and Leadership from The George Washington University. Brent also holds various certifications from the New York State Department of Health, National Registry of Certified Chemists, Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel, American Board of Bioanalysis, New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, Tennessee Department of Health, Medical Laboratory Board, Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), and National Registry of Certified Chemists.
