Daniel Messner

Since 1986, Daniel Messner, M.D. has been a specialist in the treatment and surgery of glaucoma and cataracts. He has more than 20 years of experience helping patients throughout the Carolinas.

His research experience includes studies on the evaluation of optic nerve structure, laser therapy for glaucoma, patient compliance with glaucoma therapy, antimetabolites to improve glaucoma surgery success and new medical treatments for glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

He is particularly proud of his more than 20 years of experience teaching colleagues throughout the Carolinas and beyond about glaucoma management. Dr. Messner earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society graduating with highest honors. He served his internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis and completed his residency at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Messner then received his fellowship in glaucoma from Washington University in St. Louis. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Society of Becker Fellows.
