Jim Zito attended Bryant University from 2010 to 2013, where they studied Risk Management. In 2011, they also took a course in Advanced Change Management at Bryant University. In 2013, they completed a Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt certification program at the same university. Prior to their time at Bryant University, between 1973 and 1976, Jim served in the US Navy, although the field of study or degree obtained during their military service is unknown.

In addition to their educational background, Jim Zito has obtained certifications in R.I. Telecom System Contractor from the State of Rhode Island in June 2010, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in September 2005.
