Christopher M. Jewell

Christopher M. Jewell has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of biomedical and biotechnology. Christopher M. currently holds the position of Chief Scientific Officer at Cartesian Therapeutics since 2023. Prior to this, they have worked in various roles in start-ups and global firms where they provided consulting services for biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries since 2008. Christopher M. has also held multiple roles at the University of Maryland, including MPower Professor, Minta Martin Professor of Engineering (Endowed), Full Professor of Bioengineering, Associate Professor of Bioengineering, Director of BioWorkshop Core Instrument Facility, Associate Chair of Bioengineering (Research), and Assistant Professor of Bioengineering. Christopher M. has also worked as a Research Biologist at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Furthermore, Christopher has served as the Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Board for Vaccitech and Avidea Technologies. Additionally, they have gained research and postdoctoral experience at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Before entering academia, they worked as a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, specializing in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Christopher's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

- Christopher M. received their Diploma in Science from Allegany High School in 1999.

- In 2003, they obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and the other in Molecular Biology, from Lehigh University with High Honors.

- From 2003 to 2008, they pursued their Master of Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

- Christopher M. then joined Harvard University in 2010 as a Ragon Postdoctoral Fellow/Visiting Scientist, focusing on Immunology.
