Chia-Wei Hsu has extensive work experience in the field of chemistry research. They have worked as an Information Scientist at CAS since 2021. Prior to this, they served as an Adjunct Faculty at the College of DuPage, where they taught organic chemistry II.
From 2018 to 2020, Chia-Wei Hsu worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory. In this role, they focused on synthesizing ionic liquids and collaborating with other divisions at Argonne to synthesize target compounds. They also designed a catalyst-free synthetic route for vicinal diols.
Before joining Argonne, Chia-Wei Hsu worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2016 to 2018. Here, they synthesized copper-based enzyme models and investigated their reactivities. They also characterized copper complexes using various techniques.
Earlier in their career, Chia-Wei Hsu worked at the University of Houston as a Research/Teaching Assistant from 2011 to 2016. They were involved in manipulation, amplification, and separation of target products. They also designed a porous molecular crystal with selective CO2 adsorption capabilities.
Chia-Wei Hsu's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at National Tsing Hua University from 2010 to 2011. Here, they developed catalysts and investigated their reactivity. They also synthesized and characterized imine-based molecules.
Additionally, Chia-Wei Hsu served as an Intern Teacher at the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park from 2009 to 2010. They taught chemistry and helped organize events and activities for students.
Chia-Wei Hsu's earliest work experience was as a Research Assistant at National Tsing Hua University from 2006 to 2008. In this role, they focused on developing and characterizing organometallic complexes and a bioinorganic-related iron complex.
Chia-Wei Hsu completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Physical Organic Chemistry and Material Chemistry at the University of Houston from 2011 to 2016. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2008, Chia-Wei Hsu earned a Master's degree in Inorganic Chemistry and organometallic chemistry at National Tsing Hua University. Chia-Wei Hsu began their educational journey with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry from National Tsing Hua University, which was completed from 2002 to 2006.
In addition to their formal education, Chia-Wei Hsu has obtained several certifications. They completed the Python Essential Training course from LinkedIn in June 2020 and completed courses in Effective Listening and Inventory Management Foundations from LinkedIn in May 2020. Chia-Wei Hsu also obtained a certification as a High School Teacher in Chemistry from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan in April 2009.
