Roy Schlegel, MD oversees Cascade’s Medical program. A Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, he has been providing care to families over the southwest Washington region and has been associated with Cascade for more than 16 years; he’s been Medical Director since 2016 and is now Chief Medical Officer.
Cascade’s medical team provides diagnostic psychiatric evaluations, treatment and clinical team consultations, and prescribing and medication monitoring for clients across Cascade’s many clinical programs, including outpatient and wraparound services for children and adolescents; outpatient and PACT services for adults; adult inpatient services and crisis stabilization unit; jail services; substance use disorder treatment, including medication-assisted treatment; and primary care services.
Dr. Schlegel earned his MD from the University of Colorado and completed psychiatric training, including a child and adolescent fellowship, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Mindful of Cascade’s mission and aware of the ongoing shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists, in addition to his CMO duties he continues to provide psychiatric care to children and families at Cascade Community Healthcare, at Wahkiakum Behavioral Health, and at Willapa Behavioral Health. Since 2011, he has also been committed to teaching future doctors; through Pacific Northwest University, he has been precepting osteopathic medical students as adjunct clinical faculty, advancing in 2020 to clinical assistant professor.
