Michael Koch, P.E. has a diverse work experience in the field of energy efficiency and management. Michael started their career as an Undergraduate Technical Assistant at the University of Missouri, where they played a role in reducing campus energy consumption. Michael then worked as a Lead Undergrad Engineer at the Missouri Industrial Assessment Center, gaining valuable experience in engineering practices.

Afterward, Michael worked as an Energy Engineer at Fox & Associates Energy Consulting and as a Product Development Intern at Watlow, where they further honed their skills in energy efficiency.

Michael also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Oregon State University, focusing on energy efficiency. Michael then transitioned to the role of Operations Manager at the Oregon State University Energy Efficiency Center, responsible for managing operations related to energy efficiency.

Moving forward, Michael worked at Cascade Energy, Inc, where they held several roles. These roles include Program Delivery Manager, where they managed project pipelines for multiple industrial customers, and Project Engineer, where they identified and evaluated energy efficiency projects. Michael also served as a Strategic Energy Management Coach, aiding utilities in designing and implementing energy management programs. Currently, they are working as a Senior SEM Coach, coaching industrial clients and aiding utilities in establishing resilient energy management programs.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated their expertise in energy management and efficiency, collaborating with various organizations, vendors, and contractors. Michael has a strong ability to present complex technical and financial information to a diverse range of stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.

Michael Koch, P.E. holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they studied from 2003 to 2008. In addition to their educational background, Michael has obtained several certifications, including being a Professional Engineer (PE) accredited by NCEES in March 2020. Michael is also an Affiliate Member of the Association of Energy Engineers, a Carbon Auditing Professional certified by the same institution in May 2023, and holds a certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross, which they obtained in August 2021.
