Steve Ziemak has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Steve started their career at STERIS Corporation as an Associate Scientist, where they designed and conducted microbiological studies to assess the sterilization efficacy of medical devices. After that, they worked as a Pesticide Specialist at the National Pesticide Information Center, where they provided objective and science-based information about pesticide safety to the public and assisted the medical community in pesticide incident management.
Steve then joined Pleasant Hill Nursery as a Micropropagation Laboratory Manager, overseeing all aspects of the plant micropropagation lab and coordinating with the owner and outdoor crew to produce saleable plants. After that, they served as an Inventory Data Manager at Heritage Seedlings, Inc., where they tracked total plant inventory and built a database to manage inventory.
Steve then worked at Marshall's, Inc. as a Duct Testing Technician, performing duct tests and troubleshooting systems for energy efficiency. Steve later joined the Eugene Water and Electric Board as an Energy Management Intern, where they developed a plan to enhance electricity-saving practices in office buildings and worked with various stakeholders to implement it. Most recently, they have been with Cascade Energy Engineering as a Program Analyst, focusing on the Small Industrial Initiative.
Throughout their career, Steve has demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and coordination abilities, and a commitment to advancing energy conservation and sustainability.
Steve Ziemak has a diverse education history. In 1987, they completed their high school education at Riverside High School, focusing on college-preparatory studies. Following that, from 1990 to 1992, they attended the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Computer Engineering, without obtaining a degree. Later on, from 1994 to 1997, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ohio University. In 2001 to 2002, Steve pursued further studies at Oregon State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany. Finally, from 2007 to 2009, they attended Lane Community College, specializing in Energy Management, and completed an Associate of Applied Science degree.
