Nick Barendt

Nick Barendt serves as the Assistant Vice President for Research and Executive Director of the Institute for Smart, Secure and Connected Systems (ISSACS) at Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, Nick holds the position of Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and is an active Member Investor with North Coast Ventures, focusing on evaluating B2B SaaS opportunities. As Co-Executive Director of IoT Collaborative and Senior Advisor for Hyr Medical, Nick addresses the healthcare workforce shortages projected for 2025. Previous roles include Treasurer and Director at the Case Alumni Association, Organizer for Cleveland GiveCamp, VP at LeanDog, and various engineering positions at VXI Technology, Inc. Nick holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
