Michael J. Cucco

Michael J. Cucco is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and co-chair of the Environmental & Toxic Injury practice group. He also formerly served as Managing Partner. Michael has an extensive practice in both civil and commercial litigation, including the defense of significant injury cases.

Michael’s experience includes all aspects of professional negligence claims, in which he represents hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and physicians. His product liability experience includes the representation of numerous corporations, and he has defended multiple claims asserting damages due to food borne illness and allergy. Michael has also defended class action complaints alleging injury due to asbestos, mold, lead and manganese. He has served as defense counsel to a consortium of welding manufacturers, defending suits alleging that prolonged exposure to welding fumes caused manganese-induced neurological deficits, including Parkinson’s disease. Michael has tried numerous cases to verdict and has successfully handled catastrophic injury actions in a number of jurisdictions, including matters involving paraplegia, quadriplegia, traumatic brain injury, birth injury, neurological injuries, loss of limbs, orthopedic injuries, burns, psychiatric injuries including major depression and PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety, personality disorders, sleep disorders and neurocognitive disorders.

Michael is a member of several professional organizations including the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association.
