Robert Bach Casanovas has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Robert currently serves as the Director of the Nairobi Office for Catalonia Trade & Investment (ACCIO), a government agency focused on trade, innovation, and foreign investment. In this position, they oversee trade, investment, and technology transfer activities between Catalonia and East Africa.
Prior to this, Robert worked at ACCIÓ as the Responsible for International Cooperation and Social Economy, where they dealt with international cooperation and social economy initiatives.
Robert has also worked as a Trainer on Project Cycle Management at International Economics Consulting Ltd and as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at UNDP.
In their roles at EPTISA, they served as the Coordinator at Results Oriented Monitoring (ROM) EU Cooperation with Africa, Caribbean, Pacific, overseeing the coordination of 60 annual missions and managing independent experts. Robert also worked as an Independent Monitoring and Evaluation Expert for various EU-funded projects.
Before that, Robert worked as a Junior Expert at ACP MTS Programme - European Commission, providing technical assistance to ACP countries for their integration into the Multilateral Trading System.
At Cowater International, they served as a Project Administrator, coordinating the implementation of development projects in ACP countries.
Robert started their career as a Junior Consultant on International Trade at the Delegation to the EU and Benelux at ACCIÓ Brussels Office, where they provided advisory services and support to SMEs interested in internationalization.

Robert Bach Casanovas began their education at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2001, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Business Administration. Robert completed this program in 2006. During their time at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, they also participated in the European Exchange Programme at Université Toulouse 1 Capitole from 2004 to 2005. Here, their field of study focused on European Integration and Development Economics.
In 2008, Robert continued their studies at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals, where they pursued a Master of Arts degree in International Relations. Robert specialized in African Studies and the Political Economy of Development during their time in the program, which concluded in 2009.
