Tom Knudsen

VP, Translational Research at Catalyst Biosciences

Tom Knudsen has served as Vice President of Translational Research at Catalyst since January 2020. Dr. Knudsen joined Catalyst as a Senior Director in May 2019. In his role at Catalyst, Dr. Knudsen is responsible for developing and executing on Catalyst’s systemic complement strategy. Dr. Knudsen is also leading the pre-clinical and translational development activities for MarzAA. Dr. Knudsen brings to Catalyst 15+ years of experience across the fields of biopharmaceuticals research (Novo Nordisk) and strategy consulting (Deloitte). At Novo Nordisk Dr. Knudsen held various line as well as portfolio and project management leadership roles across the early biopharmaceuticals portfolio. Moreover, as a software entrepreneur Dr. Knudsen previously co-founded and successfully exited a company specializing in high volume data processing for enterprise clients.

Dr. Knudsen has authored and co-authored more than 25 peer reviewed papers, abstracts, and patent applications. Moreover, Dr Knudsen served as Chair and Co-chair of Scientific Subcommittee on Animal Models under the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis for five years.

Dr. Knudsen earned his DVM and PhD degrees in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
