Jeff Smith is a pioneer and thought leader in the fields of computer engineering and the Internet of Things. Jeff has built several successful Internet companies including OnRamp/Verio (acquired by NTT for $5.5B), Vericenter, SensorLogic, and Ublip. Jeff has served as a Director of public companies Verio and Numerex, as well as numerous private companies and several venture fund advisory boards. Most recently, Jeff was the Chief Technology and Strategy Officer of Numerex (NASDAQ:NMRX) a leading Provider of Machine to Machine/IoT Solutions. Jeff has also served as the Chair of the TIA-TR50 M2M Standards Committee as well as the Chair of the United Nations - ITU Global Standards Collaboration M2M Task Force. As a scientist for Motorola, The Robotics Institute, and the SuperCollider he has worked on vision systems, robotics, and wireless sensor and control systems developed for the FBI, CIA, DOD, DOE, NASA, and USPS - from autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles to particle accelerators. Jeff has a B.S. in Engineering Science from Trinity University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Robotics) from the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds 11 patents with 20+ pending. Jeff is a member of IEEE, ACM, Tau Beta Pi - National Engineering Honor Society, Upsilon Pi Epsilon - National Computer Science Honor Society, The Entrepreneurs Organization, and The World President’s Organization (WPO). In 2006 Jeff also received The International “Community” award from the Ewing B. Kaufmann Foundation. This award recognized his social entrepreneurship mission in Honduras.
