Howard Chou

Howard Chou is the current VP of R&D at Cathay Biotech. Prior to this, they were a graduate student at UC Berkeley from September 2005 to August 2012. Chou also worked as a graduate student researcher at the Joint Bioenergy Institute from June 2008 to August 2012. Additionally, they have experience as a computer programmer, having worked at ContactSpan from January 2005 to December 2005 where they designed and implemented a web application for a professional networking service. Chou's other research experience includes work as an undergraduate researcher at ExperiBase from January 2004 to December 2004, where they managed and implemented a project to extend a flexible data model for storing microarray data. Howard also worked as an undergraduate researcher at GlycoBank from January 2003 to December 2004, during which time they designed and implemented a database and tools for rapidly storing, retrieving, and analyzing glycomics data.

Howard Chou holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley as well as a Management of Technology degree from the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business. Chou also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, San Francisco. Their undergraduate degrees are in Biology and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
