Ernie Abbott

Ernie Abbott is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in emergency management and disaster response law. Currently serving as of Counsel at Baker Donelson since 2013 and a Professorial Instructor in Law at George Washington University Law School since 2011, Ernie is also a member of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Disaster Response and Preparedness since 2006. Ernie has held significant positions including Owner of FEMA Law Associates, PLLC from 2002 to 2013, General Counsel at the Federal Emergency Management Agency from 1997 to 2001, and Attorney Advisor at the Interstate Commerce Commission. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Law (JD) magna cum laude and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard, alongside a high honors Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from Swarthmore College. Ernie has also played a vital role in arts and community service as a Bass II and President of the Board of Trustees for the Cathedral Choral Society from 2015 to 2018.
