Janine Surmick

Janine Surmick is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in literacy advocacy, customer service, and education. As the founder of Literacy Abridged since April 2024, Janine leads initiatives that empower families through literacy engagement in early childhood. Previously, as a Family Service Counselor at The Catholic Cemeteries Association of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Janine consistently exceeded sales quotas and developed training programs. Janine's experience also includes roles in insurance, car sales, and outreach education, highlighting a strong ability to connect with communities and foster relationships. Educationally, Janine holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from Alvernia University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Chatham University.
