Michael Girot

Michael Girot is a seasoned communication professional with extensive experience in strategic communications and athletics media relations. Currently serving as the Coordinator of Strategic Communications at Catholic Extension since September 2020, Michael has held various roles within the organization, including Strategic Communications Associate and Intern. Prior to this, Michael worked as an Athletics Communication Graduate Assistant at the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, managing media relations for major sports teams and overseeing their social media presence. Additional experience includes a summer role with the Chicago Cubs in Logistics and Set Up teams, and earlier positions as a Student Assistant in Athletics Communication at the University of Illinois, contributing to media relations and event operations. Michael holds a Master of Science in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, both from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
