James Hazen

James Hazen is an experienced development professional with a strong background in food security, nutrition, and project management. Currently serving as Chief of Party for the USDA Food for Progress Miranga Project at Catholic Relief Services, James oversees a $34 million program aimed at enhancing food and nutrition security in southern Madagascar. Previous roles include Senior Technical Advisor for private sector engagement in Southern Africa, and Chief of Party for various significant programs, including the SPICES Program and the USAID-funded Fararano. James has also held positions in the Public Health Institute and the Peace Corps, contributing to integrated health, agriculture, and nutrition initiatives across several countries. Holding a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa, James combines academic knowledge with extensive field experience to drive impactful development solutions.
