Ian Thompson

Ian Thompson has extensive experience in software engineering and data science roles. Ian is currently working as a Lead Data Scientist at CattleEye since November 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at PathXL - Philips Pathology from October 2016 to November 2019. In this role, they implemented new features and algorithms for the company's TissueMark product and led the development of deep learning algorithms for various tissue types. Ian also helped in developing a framework for algorithm execution and result processing. Ian Thompson has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at InspecVision Ltd for a brief period in 2016, where they developed computer vision software for metrology systems. Ian has experience in developing feed handlers for financial market data at SR Labs from August 2014 to May 2016 and at NYSE from June 2013 to August 2014. In addition, they worked as an R&D Software Engineer at HeartSine Technologies from November 2008 to June 2013, focusing on the development of software and diagnostic algorithms for defibrillators. Ian started their career as a Demonstrator at Queen's University Belfast, where they were involved in teaching programming concepts to undergraduate students and grading assignments from September 2004 to August 2008.

Ian Thompson completed their education in the field of Computer Science. Ian earned their Bachelor's degree, a Master of Engineering (MEng), from Queen's University Belfast, between 2000 and 2004. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from the same institution, from 2004 to 2008.
