Matthew McAuley

Matthew McAuley has been working in the field of data science since 2012. From 2012-2015, they worked as a MatLab Developer for Cirdan Imaging Ltd during a summer internship. From 2012-2017, they completed their PhD in Physics Nanotechnology at Queen's University Belfast, where they developed hardware, software, data analysis methods, and presented at international conferences. From 2015-2017, they worked as a Financial Software Developer at AquaQ Analytics, where they self-taught kdb+ and developed APIs and database queries. From 2017-2022, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Allstate Northern Ireland, where they led the Unstructured Data Science team, worked on metadata enrichment using Deep learning techniques, and provided data expertise and consulting to the wider department and enterprise. Currently, they are the Head of Data at Causeway Sensors Limited.

Matthew McAuley completed their MSci in Physics from Queen's University Belfast from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they attended Belfast Royal Academy from 2001 to 2008. Matthew has also obtained several certifications, including Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in July 2015, Exploratory Data Analysis from Coursera in July 2015, Intro to Statistics with R: Introduction from DataCamp in June 2015, R Programming (with Distinction) from Coursera in February 2015, Flying Through Python from Code School, Front-end Formations from Code School, Front-end Foundations from Code School, Git Real from Code School, and try-sql from Code School.
