Jack Hervey has a diverse work experience in the field of research. Jack is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cawthron Institute since December 2021. Prior to this, they served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge from January 2020 to October 2021.
Their earlier experience includes being a PhD student at the University of Cambridge from November 2014 to September 2019, where their research focused on bioremediation of waste by the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris and metabolic engineering.
Before their PhD, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Otago from January 2014 to September 2014. Prior to that, they were a Summer Research Scholar from November 2013 to January 2014 and an Honours student from February 2013 to October 2013. Their work at the University of Otago involved various tasks such as molecular cloning, protein purification, gel electrophoresis, spectrometry, and scripting for spectrophotometric analysis.
Jack Hervey attended Nayland College from 2005 to 2009. After completing their high school education, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Plant Biotechnology at the University of Otago from 2010 to 2012. Jack then furthered their education at the same university by completing a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in Plant Biotechnology in 2013. Jack's academic journey continued at the prestigious University of Cambridge, where they pursued a PhD in Biochemistry from 2014 to 2018.
