Susi Bailey

Susi Bailey has a diverse work experience in the publishing industry. Susi started their career as a Journal Editor at Elsevier GeoAbstracts in 1987 and worked there until 1989. Susi then joined Crowood Press where they initially worked as a Copy Editor and later got promoted to Publishing Manager. During their time at Crowood Press, they mainly focused on sports books. In 1992, Susi worked at AA Publishing as a Managing Editor, where they co-managed a series of travel guides. Susi was responsible for commissioning freelancers, editing, proofreading, and coordinating with various departments. In 1996, Susi partnered with two others to establish a publishing packaging service called OutHouse Publishing. There, they managed entire book projects from author acquisition to final production. Since 1991, alongside their other roles, Susi has been self-employed as a freelance editor and proofreader specializing in non-fiction books related to natural sciences. Susi has also worked as a Science Editor at Cawthron Institute since 2023.

Susi Bailey attended King George V School in Hong Kong from 1977 to 1984. Susi did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study during this period. Subsequently, from 1984 to 1987, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia.
