Candis Mayweather Hunter

Candis Mayweather Hunter, PhD, MSPH, REHS, is a highly experienced Health Scientist and Scientific Program Official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, specializing in advancing scientific innovation within the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control and the National Center for Environmental Health. Candis manages significant extramural research portfolios focusing on critical public health issues, including firearm-related violence and environmental health challenges. Previous roles include Senior Public Health Advisor overseeing childhood lead poisoning prevention, and Environmental Health Scientist providing outbreak response for Legionnaires' disease. Candis has also contributed to environmental epidemiology research within the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, and has held positions with the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, Morehouse College, and the US EPA.
