Christina Castro is a Bioinformatician at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with experience on the NGS Team within the Polio and Picornavirus Laboratory Branch. Prior to this role, Christina worked as a Bioinformatics Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, focusing on computational techniques for identifying positively selected genes in Vibrio vulnificus, and developed a Python pipeline for this research. Christina has also contributed as a Teaching Assistant for Intro to Computer Science and served as a Website Administrator for the Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics. Additionally, Christina interned at the Food and Drug Administration, developing statistical methods for analyzing microRNA sequencing data. Educational qualifications include a Professional Science Master's in Bioinformatics and Genomics and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, along with earlier degrees in Business Administration.
