Ioannis Tsanakas

Ioannis (John) Tsanakas is an accomplished R&D Project Manager and Senior Researcher at CEA since January 2020, specializing in photovoltaic operations and maintenance, digitalization, and project management for EU H2020 projects BE-SMART and SERENDI-PV. As an EU Climate Pact Ambassador since April 2023, Ioannis supports and informs EU climate initiatives. Since March 2015, Ioannis has served as a National Expert in the International Energy Agency's Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme, focusing on compiling statistical data for PV applications. Previous roles include Research Scientist at imec, where Ioannis managed the EU H2020 MSCA project "PVMINDS," and held research positions at IFE and CNRS. Ioannis completed a PhD in Management and Industrial Engineering and a BSc/MSc in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace, contributing to teaching and research in energy systems and fault diagnosis.
