Jean-Francois Sassi

Jean-Francois (Jef) Sassi has extensive experience in the field of algae processes and products, currently serving as a CEA Expert Fellow Scientist and R&D Group Manager at CEA since March 2013. Sassi is involved in providing scientific advice at an international level while leading a team focused on the development of cost-efficient industrial processes for algal biomass applications. Additionally, Sassi holds positions on the Steering Board and Scientific Committee of the European Algae Biomass Association and acts as an Expert Scientific Evaluator for the European Commission's H2020 and Horizon Europe programs. Involvement with the International Society of Applied Phycology includes roles as an Ordinary Member and on the Executive Committee. Previous positions encompass leadership roles in R&D at the Centre d'Etude et de Valorisation des Algues, Rhodia, and academia at Cornell University. Sassi's educational background includes a PhD in Chemistry from Université Grenoble Alpes and post-doctoral studies at Cornell University in Polymer Chemistry.
