Marcel Van Amerongen

VP, Cellulose Derivatives at Celanese

Marcel R. van Amerongen was appointed Celanese Vice President, Cellulose Derivatives, in January 2015. He is responsible for the execution of the company’s business strategy, commercial and portfolio-related activities of the Cellulose Derivatives business, including the acetate tow and acetate flake product lines.

Prior to his current role, van Amerongen progressed through several Celanese roles including Vice President, Business Strategy & Development; Director of Finance, Consumer and Industrial Specialties; Director of Finance, Advanced Engineered Materials; Director of Financial Shared Services in Germany; and Director of Sales for Acetate in Europe. He joined Celanese in 1985.

Marcel earned his Master of Information Business Studies (MIBS) from the University of South Carolina in 1985, and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Nijenrode, The Netherlands in 1983.
