Renata is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Head and Neck Clinical Research Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas.
Her work focuses on the clinical development of new therapeutic strategies for patients with head and neck malignancies and novel methods for prediction and evaluation of treatment effect and improvement in patients’ quality of life, driven by solid background scientific data, thus contributing to the advancement of personalized cancer therapy.
She has an interest in rarer head and neck tumour subtypes, particularly salivary gland carcinomas. She has conceived, developed, and led a project to investigate the significance of NOTCH1 mutations in adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) and has received a Conquer Cancer Career Development Award and a Khalifa Scholar Grant to continue her work investigating NOTCH1 as a promising therapeutic target in ACC. Renata is a member of various oncology organizations and societies: ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology), SWOG (Southwest Oncology Group), NASBS (North America Skull base Society), and IRCI (International Rare Cancers initiative).
