Aviv is a computational and systems biologist, core institute member, chair of the faculty and director of the Klarman Cell Observatory at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, professor of biology at MIT, and an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She is also co-chair of the Organizing Committee for the International Human Cell Atlas project.
Aviv has pioneered many of the leading experimental and computational methods for the reconstruction of cell circuits, including in single-cell genomics. She is a leader in the field, developing novel technology, advancing computational biology and applying single-cell RNA sequencing. Her lab combines massive datasets of unprecedented size and complexity with sophisticated machine learning algorithms to better understand human cells in health and disease.
