Edris Taher has a diverse background in engineering and research. Edris currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University. Prior to this, they worked at Cemvita Inc. as the VP of Operations and Engineering and as the Director of Bioprocess Development & Scaleup. Edris also worked as the Vice President of Plant Operations at SolarBioTech, where they were responsible for technology transfer and bioprocess development. Edris'sprevious roles include Plant Operations Manager at Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District and Senior Bio-Process Engineer at Environmental Operating Solutions. Edris has also conducted research and served as a researcher and bioprocess engineer at Columbia University and TU Delft, respectively. Edris started their career as a Fermentation Lab Technician at Tehran Polytechnic Institute. Overall, Edris Taher has extensive experience in bioprocess development, engineering, and research.
Edris Taher holds a Doctorate of Engineering degree in Bioprocess Design from Delft University of Technology, which was obtained in 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biochemical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) in 2006. In 2004, they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Chemical Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). Throughout their education, Edris also obtained various certifications in areas such as Cell Expansion, Biocatalysis, Bioreactor Design and Operation, Downstream Processing, Industrial Fermentation, and Project Management.
