Sam Howell

Sam Howell is an Associate Fellow and Adjunct Associate Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), contributing to the Technology & National Security Program since November 2022. Prior experience includes various roles at CNAS, including Research Associate and Research Assistant, as well as an Analyst for the Afghanistan War Commission from March to September 2024. Sam's professional background also includes work as an Intelligence Analyst at TD International, LLC, a Counterterrorism Researcher at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, and a Graduate Practicum Consultant at the RAND Corporation. Educational qualifications comprise a Master's degree in National Security Policy Studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities and Political Science from Baylor University. Additionally, Sam served as a Division I Student-Athlete at Baylor from 2015 to 2019.
