Lauren Vicary

SVP, Production at Center for American Progress Action Fund

Lauren Vicary is the senior vice president of production at American Progress.

During her tenure with American Progress, Vicary has shepherded numerous organizationwide priorities, including as lead editor for the “Report of the Commission on Inclusive Prosperity,” a multinational project highlighting progressive institutions and policies globally; The Shriver Report: A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back from the Brink, a book and multimedia platform detailing the profound change in the makeup of American families; and “The Middle-Class Squeeze,” a report outlining policies critical to a strong and growing economy.

A 20-year veteran of political journalism and newsroom management, Vicary launched numerous digital properties for news organizations before joining the senior leadership team at American Progress. She was the managing editor of politics for Bloomberg News’ digital team, where she developed and launched Bloomberg.com’s politics and elections websites. She also spent three years as the political editor at NBCNews.com, where she launched their political websites and broke traffic records during the 2008 election cycle. Vicary began her tenure in Washington, D.C., at the Associated Press, where she spent nearly a decade as a reporter, assignment manager, and lead political producer, and was instrumental in the launch of the AP’s digital operations in Washington. Vicary was also a contributor and editor at PoliticsDaily.com, a reporter for ABC and CBS affiliates, and a program director at both PBS and Time-Life.

A native of Erie and State College, Pennsylvania, Vicary holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
