Sarah Yager currently serves as the Washington Director for Human Rights Watch since October 2020 and holds the position of Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University since September 2019. Yager is also a board member for the Center for Civilians in Conflict, a role held since January 2017. Previous positions include Jennings Randolph Senior Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace and Advisor for the International Committee of the Red Cross from September 2018 to May 2019. Yager has experience as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and as a Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security. Prior to these roles, Yager served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at the US Mission to the United Nations and held the Executive Director position at the Center for Civilians in Conflict from 2005 to May 2014. Yager's education includes an MA in Security Policy from Columbia University and a BA in Political Philosophy from Georgetown University.
